Исследовательская некоммерческая организация, осуществляющая различные программы в целях улучшения взаимопонимания между странами, решения проблем международной безопасности, политики и экономики, содействия общественному обсуждению этих проблем. Вырабатывает рекомендации федеральным органам власти, международным организациям. Издает бюллетень "Атлантик каунсил ньюс" [Atlantic Council News] (один раз в два года). Основана в 1961. Около 700 членов. Штаб-квартира в г. Вашингтоне.
